Dance: Technical Skills

1. Learners will develop their technical dance skills in Jazz and Contemporary dance.
2. They will apply these skills in a teacher-led choreographed dance.

Dance: Choreography

1. Learners will apply their knowledge and understanding of a range of choreographic devices and structures within the creative process to create short choreographed sequences.
2. They will create a choreography with a chosen theme and discuss this in a choreographic review.

Written Exam

The pupils will visit a classroom once a week to develop their knowledge and understanding of the principles of dance. These include evaluation of technical and performance qualities, knowledge and understanding of a dance style and evaluation of a professional choreography. The final paper lasts one hour and is worth 30 marks.
